Sun Sooley is undoubtedly one of the major African reggae artists based in Europe. His career began in 1995 in his motherland of Senegal, where he soon reached popularity with the band Jant Bi, achieving unprecedented sales among the Senegalese hip-hop movement.
He recorded his first solo reggae album Siratikal Moustaqim in 2003, which first brought him exposure in Europe. But it was in 2010 that he reached international popularity with the album One day inna Babylon produced in Italy.
His talent and his live shows, both with bands and sound systems, are guaranteed to impress those who lucky
… enough to see him on stage.
During his career he has appeared at notable international festivals. These include Rototom Sunsplash in Spain (with Alpha Blondy), Garance in France, and Overjam in Slovenia, as well as numerous events in Italy (Positive River, Fara Rock, Somenfest …) Germany, Belgium, Holland, France, Austria. He has returned to the continent of Africa at the Fesman in Senegal, Gambia and Djibouti.
In 2018 he released the single Only Good Vibes, which anticipates the album Rise And Shine, released in December.
As an artist, he stands as true international ambassador of Senegalese reggae, with his songs written in English, French and his native language Wolof. Sun Sooley carries his culture, warmth, and positivity through his music, while maintaining a humanist and universalist philosophy.
Sun Sooley est sans aucun doute l’un des principaux artistes reggae africains d’Europe. Sa carrière commence au Sénégal, son pays d’origine, en 1995, où il connaîtra rapidement la popularité avec le groupe Jant Bi, en tête des ventes de CD de toute l’histoire hip-hop du Sénégal.
Il enregistre en 2003 son premier album reggae solo Siratikal Moustaqim qui lui permet de se faire connaitre en Europe. Mais c’est en 2010 qu’il se fera connaître à échelle internationale avec l’album reggae One day inna babylon produit en Italie.
Son talent et ses shows en live, aussi bien accompagné d’un groupe qu’en showcase, laissent toujours un beau souvenir à ceux qui ont l’opportunité de le voir sur scène.
Au cours de sa carrière, il monte sur de nombreuses scènes dans différents pays, passant du Rototom Sunsplash en Espagne avec Alpha Blondy, au Garance Off en France, à l’Overjam en Slovénie et encore beaucoup d’autres festivals en Italie (Positive River, Fara Rock, Somenfest, etc.) mais aussi en Allemagne, en Belgique, aux Pays-Bas, en France, en Autriche et en Afrique au Fesman au Sénégal, en Gambie et au Djibouti.
Il revient en 2018 avec le single Only Good Vibes qui donne un avant-goût de l’album Rise And Shine sorti en décembre.
Polyglotte, il se place comme un véritable ambassadeur du reggae sénégalais dans le monde entier grâce à ses chansons écrites en anglais, en français et en wolof, sa langue maternelle.
